The Captain’s Logs
— Book One Of Her Greatest Adventures
Aura Raines is the renowned commander of the Clarian Space Fleet and a superhero who has saved many cultures throughout the galaxy. She is based on earth where her services are most often in need as she investigates mysteries, keeps an eye out on the Dracos, Raptors, and Pleiadians, and assists occasional geocachers.
The Annals of Aura Raines — based on her Captain’s Logs — were a part of the Geocaching List. This site focuses on her greatest adventures in time and space.
Join Aura and her trusted ship Rusty (which serves as the science officer) as she ventures into uncharted reaches of geocaching, time and space.
The infamous Spud Island was being used by dark members of the Not-So-Secret Secret Space Force. Aura was called to an even more secret mission to rescue an undercover agent captured by the NSSSSF. She and Rusty arrived in the nick of time.
Saucer crashes are a persistent problem. Sometimes they are the result of young hotshot pilots. Sometimes they are part of the Homeland Space Security saucer defense. Other equipment dates back to the days of Roswell. In any event Aura is called to oversee crash cleanups and investigate whether earth has developed new capabilities or of anyone noticed.
Devils Tower makes people do strange things. A few people have an irresistible urge to make mashed potato sculptures of the area. Others cannot resist climbing it even though it is a sacred site to many indigenous nations. The Clarians maintain embassies on some of the native lands and support their call to stop climbing the tower. However, when all the potatoes on their ship started disappearing Aura began to wonder if the Anunnaki were up to something.
As the winner of the Clarian Celebrity Contest, Aura could have easily been included here. Somehow Orthon, Val Thor, Bucky and Aura Rhanes were not part of the quiz either. She was a little taken aback by this, but as soon as she thought about it, she realized that the aliens included were a different kind of character so she did not take it personally. However, Superman was a little miffed.
Clarians always enjoy watching Skinwalker Ranch, however the Venusians love tantalizing Travis and Dragon by playing their music broadcasts on 1.6 ghz. Venusian music cannot be understood or appreciated by anyone from another planet. Aura has been trying to negotiate a compromise: they will agree to stop using that channel if the show cuts back on the number of rockets they use. It seems fair since the rockets bother those using the secret base underneath the mesa, but History Channel now wants to do a show featuring Val Thor and Aura. They have tried to explain to the producers that their involvement would violate the Prime Time Directive, (and that the two do not get along since Val supported Trump), but the negotiations have not gone well.
Aura investigated Bradford Ranch near Sedona, AZ. It is known for various phenomenon including orbs, sasquatch, and skinwalkers. People warned me about being in the area after dark and I met somebody there who claimed a friend had a skinwalker “change” in their car. Aura did not notice anything usual but her standards are much different than mine.
The famous moving stones on a playa in Death Valley have filled people with wonder. Aura and Rusty conducted a number of tests to determine if the effects of the Clarian Vortex Drive might be contributing to that. Given how many underground bases there are in the Mojave it was important to study the area, but after analyzing the data Rusty found that none of the operations were pushing the rocks. However, Rusty analyzed the effect of other factors and solved the mystery. Aura gave the information to terrestrial researchers.
Landing pads are a little dated, but the area was important since it allowed meetings with various aliens and humans — especially as Area 51 became important. As more craft came here the area became barren. To this day no grass grows within the circle. The landing pad became famous after an incident where a raptor was in need of a chocolate fix and wanted to eat Aura. Although this was in violation of the Fourth Interstellar Treaty, raptors sometimes don’t make fine distinctions. Fortunately Aura never stops at a landing pad without emergency supplies of chocolate. The ensuing peace has held since then and is commemorated here.
Ryanhenge is a must place to stop for all tour groups that are part of the Clarian Travel Authority. Of course since it is a popular place, not all the visitors are from Clarian. Some of them do not follow the basic rules set in place by the Galactic Council. The Grays and Praying Mantis are usually the most problematic. The Grays have an attitude and the Mantises . . . Let’s just note that you would want to watch your sons or daughters if they are around. Much to Aura’s dismay she is often called to help with these situations.
